چکیده
These symptoms can include weakness, fatigue, spontaneous bleeding, and increased infection.3 As the disease progresses, hypercalcemia due to increased bone resorption is often seen.3 Commonly, patients can develop kidney involvement, resulting in renal failure.3 In this case, the patient had none of these signs and symptoms when she initially presented with visual complaints. In the literature, there is a report of known systemic multiple myeloma with choroidal involvement,1 and there is a case of an extramedullary plasmacytoma in the choroid without development of multiple myeloma.2 This case demonstrates that systemic multiple myeloma can present initially as an amelanotic choroidal mass that simulates a choroidal melanoma. The diagnosis of choroidal plasmacytoma in this case is strongly supported by the rapid and complete response of the lesion to radiotherapy. In addition, the finding of multiple systemic plasmacytomas further supports the diagnosis. References 1. Sandberg HO, Westby RK, Arnesen K. Plasmacytoma of the uvea in a case of multiple myeloma. Removal of subfoveal perfluorocarbon liquid: Report of 3 cases
Purpose To report removal of retained subfoveal perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL) after vitrectomy for retinal detachment. Methods Three patients underwent 3-port 23-gauge vitrectomy in an attempt to remove retained subfoveal PFCL bubble secondary to retinal detachment surgery. In two patients, removal was achieved via a 23-G needle whereas the third patient with multiple small subfoveal droplets...
متن کاملSurgical Removal of Retained Subfoveal Perfluorocarbon Liquid through a Therapeutic Macular Hole with Intravitreal PFCL Injection and Gas Tamponade
We report two cases of surgical removal of a retained subfoveal perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL) bubble through a therapeutic macular hole combined with intravitreal PFCL injection and gas tamponade. Two patients underwent pars plana vitrectomy with PFCL injection for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. In both cases, a retained subfoveal PFCL bubble was noticed postoperatively by funduscopy and op...

Purpose: To report a case of retained subretinal perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL) after vitrectomy and to discuss the diagnosis and management of subretinal PFCL based on literature review. Case Report: A 57-year-old female patient underwent 3-port 23-gauge vitrectomy for advanced proliferative diabetic retinopathy and combined tractional and rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. During the surgery, ...
متن کاملMacular Hole Caused by Retained Subfoveal Perfluorocarbon that Subsequently Closed After Its Spontaneous Resolution: A Case Report
INTRODUCTION To prevent local reduction in retinal function caused by retained subretinal perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL), it has been noted that removal of PFCL under the fovea should be considered, with a vitrectomy selected for such removal. CASE REPORT A vitrectomy was performed for traumatic retinal detachment during which PFCL was temporarily used as an intraocular tamponade for retina fl...
متن کاملThe Management of the Retention of Giant Subfoveal Perfluorocarbon Liquid
The aim of this report is to present the outcome of the surgical removal of a giant subfoveal retained perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL). The case is a 65 years old man undergone pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil implantation for macula-off superior retinal detachment about three months ago. He admitted our clinic with a complaint of gradual visual loss in the left eye. His visual acuity in th...
متن کاملDisplacement of retained subfoveal perfluorocarbon liquid after vitreoretinal surgery.
OBJECTIVE To report a novel surgical procedure to displace retained subfoveal perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL). METHODS Retrospective cases series. Three patients had retained subfoveal droplets after PFCL was used in vitrectomy repair of retinal detachment. In each case, submacular PFCL was displaced to the subretinal space in the inferior periphery. A retinal detachment at the posterior pole a...
